UK Success as Spanish Player Lands €190 Million EuroMillions Jackpot
Last Updated: Monday 9th October 2017, 11:03
After witnessing the top prize reach its €190 million jackpot cap, EuroMillions fans waited patiently for Friday’s results to be revealed. Fortunately for one Spanish player, this wait certainly proved worthwhile as a single ticket holder from Gran Canaria matched the numbers 1, 9, 15, 19, 25 and Lucky Stars 1 and 7 to secure a record-equalling jackpot.
A British Winner Abroad?
The winning ticket was purchased from a shop in the El Mirador Shopping Centre, however, with the identity of the winner still a mystery, speculation as to whether the victor is a local or a tourist visiting the area remains unclear. The Spanish isle of Gran Canaria attracts around 4 million tourists every year, meaning that it is entirely possible that a British player could be starting the week €190 million richer.
Winners in the UK
There may have been wild celebrations out in the Atlantic, but back in the UK there were plenty of smiles as four players correctly predicted five main numbers and one Lucky Star to each walk away with £900,571, one of the largest sums ever seen in the game’s second prize tier. There were also big winners in the Match 5 tier as seven UK players landed £19,468 apiece, while 34 Brits each matched four main numbers and both Lucky Stars to win £1,301.
There were a further 1,398,413 UK winners in the main game, each of whom scooped prizes ranging from £2.80 in the Match 2 tier to £71 in the Match 4+1 tier. The draw also saw two ticket holders become millionaires after matching the codes THVG82566 and TLZM98884 in the UK Millionaire Maker draw. A Call From Carter
One man who has found himself rushed off his feet ever since the EuroMillions Superdraw on Friday 15th September is the National Lottery’s Senior Winners’ Advisor Andy Carter. Following weeks of promotion for what became the joint largest jackpot in the pan-European game’s history, the man every lottery fan wants to meet issued a call for winning players to come forward and collect their prizes. “We have the champagne on ice ready to celebrate,” Carter told reporters.
Another Chance to Win
If you missed out on a EuroMillions prize in Friday’s draw, fear not, as this Tuesday will give you another chance to win big, with an estimated jackpot of £15 million up for grabs. Simply pick your numbers online or play through any authorised retailer. Best of luck!
