A young mother from Stockport is looking forward to opening up new doors for her and her family after pocketing £250,000 on a scratchcard. Lizzie Harris, 22, bought the £2 Red National Lottery gamecard from her local Morning Store shop on Saturday morning and played straight away.
Having discovered that she was a winner, Lizzie went back inside and the shopkeeper helped her to claim the money. A National Lottery official called back to confirm she had scooped the top prize and Lizzie kept the card safe by keeping it under her pillow. Having left her job as a technical facilities manager last year to look after her four-month-old son, Lizzie is delighted that she will be able to give him a brighter future.
“It’s every parent’s dream to be able to financially provide for their kids and now I’m able to do just that. There even may be a few pounds left over for me too!” Lizzie told the Manchester Evening News, adding that she would also like to move into a home of her own across the road from her mum, buy a car and invest in properties so she can rent them out.
