Globetrotting Lotto Jackpot Winner ‘Living the Dream’

A postman who won a £2.6 million Lotto jackpot last year has admitted his lifestyle will be the envy of many blokes after he spent the last year travelling the world to watch his favourite sporting events. Matt Evans, from Barry in Wales, has no plans to stop now and is set to travel out to France to watch Euro 2016 before heading to Rio de Janeiro later in the summer for the Olympics.
He has also booked tickets to see Wimbledon and the Monaco Grand Prix since landing his seven-figure sum almost a year ago in the Lotto draw on Wednesday 8th July, and he also regularly jets across the Atlantic to watch American football, ice hockey and baseball. He has spent tens of thousands of pounds so far but has enjoyed every minute of his globetrotting adventure.
“I know I’m very lucky - I’m living the dream of so many blokes,” he said, quoted by The Mirror. “I always said if I won the lottery I’d spend it on following my favourite teams. I love American sport so instead of watching it on TV I fly over to see it live. But I still love my football and I’m devoted to Cardiff City and Wales.”
Evans, who revealed when he won the jackpot that he loved his job too much to quit, has also splashed out on a £600,000 home in the Vale of Glamorgan which has its own five-a-side football pitch. He will now hope that his beloved Wales can give him another reason to smile at Euro 2016, while other Lotto players might just feel inspired to try and follow in his footsteps this weekend.
Saturday’s Lotto draw offers a stunning jackpot of £19.7 million and you have to enter to be in with a chance of winning. Tickets can be bought online or from authorised retailers, and if you do manage to land a fortune you could plan which sporting events you might fancy watching in person.
There’s also a £65 million EuroMillions jackpot up for grabs tonight if the start of Euro 2016 makes you feel like mixing with the rest of the continent. Even if your team doesn’t fare so well at the Euros, a big win on either Lotto or EuroMillions would provide the perfect tonic, so why not get involved to see if you can make your dreams come true like Matt did? Best of luck!
