Getting Lucky Online

Getting lucky online is something that a couple from Yeovil know all about. Not only did Ed Edwards meet his wife Michelle via an internet dating agency two years ago, the couple have just won a £1,925,567 share of the National Lottery jackpot for Saturday 30 August, 2008 after buying their ticket online.
Winning almost £2 million is a big deal, so Ed has taken a month off work to get used to their new-found wealth and decide what to do with it, whilst Michelle has already handed in her notice. “Both our employers have been brilliant - really supportive and pleased for us,” Ed explained. “We are so chuffed to be able to spend a bit of time together to work out what this money means for us and our family.”
Ed always plays the lottery online and he won £7 in the EuroMillions game on Friday 29 August. Michelle thought it would be a good idea to invest in an additional Lucky Dip entry for the Lotto on Saturday, and that was the ticket that won the couple £1,925,567. However, they didn’t check the results until Sunday, and when Ed found an email from Camelot in his in-box, he automatically deleted it.
“I thought it was the email from two days ago telling me I had won £7,” Ed said. “It was only when I started checking my account that I saw the ‘alert’ to contact Camelot. When the lady told me I had matched all six numbers I couldn’t understand what she was saying or understand the amount of money she told me – I just couldn’t get my head round it.
“I went downstairs and had Sunday lunch with the family without saying a word even though Michelle said I did look very pale,” he continued. “After two more calls from Camelot I told Michelle I had to walk the dogs and that she had to come too because we needed to talk. I finally told her we had won the lottery at the bottom of a field – she told me I was a liar!”
Both Ed and Michelle are slowly coming to terms with their win and a shopping list has now been created. It includes a new home before Christmas, a Mini Cooper and a well deserved holiday.
