A supermarket general assistant from Bridlington in the UK is celebrating after winning £1,291,036 in the National Lottery draw on 12 September. The UK Lotto game requires players to match six main numbers from 1 to 49, and David Seed managed to achieve this on his wife's thirtieth birthday, giving them cause for a double celebration. The win came just days after a family member dreamed that someone would win the lottery.
"My brother Michael had a dream days before the draw that someone in the family would win £1.1m in The National Lottery," David explained. "However, he only told my dad and I didn't find out about this until after I had won."
David and his wife Marie have two children - Callum, aged nine, and Lauren, aged four. The family are planning to buy a new home and pay off any debts. David also wants to invest some money into his hobby, which is car restoration.
Although David's numbers, which were based on birthdays and numbers contained in familiar addresses, won the lottery on a Wednesday, David didn't discover the win until the following morning.
"I was off work on the day of the draw and had an early night," David said. "The following morning I was listening to the radio and they were talking about The National Lottery result. I heard two of my numbers mentioned so I thought I might have won a tenner."
"I then went downstairs and Callum had the Teletext on with the Lottery numbers up. I said to him 'why have you got my numbers on the screen? Stop messing around and put the proper numbers on.' He replied that they were the proper numbers, so I checked them and realised we had won."
David plans to continue working at the Tesco supermarket which employs him, although he expects that it will be on a part time basis.
