Two Special Lotto Draws Lined Up for Festive Period
Last Updated: Tuesday 20th December 2022, 11:41
Lotto players will have two chances to play for a £15 million jackpot before the end of the year, with special Must Be Won draws set to be held on consecutive Saturdays.
The first will take place on Christmas Eve, providing the opportunity to snap up the ultimate early Christmas present. Match all six numbers and you’ll win or share £15 million - that’s one of the biggest Lotto jackpots to have been seen in the whole of 2022.
Even if you miss out on the top prize, there’s a chance you could receive a slice of the money. With it being a Must Be Won draw, the jackpot is guaranteed to be paid out. That means there will be bigger prizes all around if nobody matches all six numbers. If you get two or more numbers, you’ll win more than usual.
Following on from the special Christmas draw, there will be another one on New Year’s Eve which will work exactly the same way. You could even end up winning prizes in both draws.
How to Pick Your Numbers
You don’t need to do anything different to play a Must Be Won draw. The cost of a ticket is still the same, and you still need to pick six numbers from 1 to 59 to take part.
The simplest way to play is a Lucky Dip, which gives you a quick pick of random numbers. Alternatively, you might have a favourite set you like to use.
Other options are to base your selections on the latest Lotto Statistics, or use the Number Generator so that you can consider random sets before you play them.
2022 Highlights
The Must Be Won draws over the festive period could provide plenty of cheer to players, but there have already been many highlights in another record-breaking year.
The three biggest prizes in UK lottery history have all been won this year, all on EuroMillions. Joe and Jess Thwaite from Gloucester were the first to break the previous best when they landed £184 million in May, before an anonymous player went even better with a £195 million win in July. As if that wasn’t enough, another big win, worth £171 million, followed in September.
A number of special Lotto events have also been held, such as the £20 million ‘Jubilee Jackpot’ that was offered in June to mark the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.
Away from the excitement of the draws, it was announced that the National Lottery licence was to change hands from Camelot to Allwyn. The new operators will formally take over in February 2024.
