National Lottery ticket sales on the rise

At times like these, when we are fighting a recession, struggling for cash and dreading the fast approaching festive season we all turn to our favourite games hoping the big blue finger of fate will point at us and solve all of our financial worries. National Lottery ticket sales are on the rise and in the first half of this year Camelot have seen an increase in ticket sales of 2.7% meaning they have raised a whopping £757.2 million for good causes.

Camelot have reported sales of an astounding £2.63 billion across all of the games they operate in the six months running up to Septembers 26th, this is an increase of nearly £70 million year on year.

The areas of most growth include none draw based games such as the many scratchcards and instant games; their popularity has grown by over 10% bringing in £641.6 million. The more traditional National Lottery game such as Lotto, Euro Millions and Thunderball showed a slight increase of 0.6% earning just under £2 billion.

These are the best ever figures posted by Camelot since they launched the National Lottery in 1994 with all areas of their business showing an increasing which can only be seen as a good thing as it means more money is generated for good causes.

The lottery commission have handed out 330,000 awards since the National Lotteries launch which is the equivalent to 113 awards for every single post code in the UK. Camelot is currently doing a lot of fund raising to help pay for the 2012 Olympic Games with over £450 million of the £750 million goal already paid.
