Lotto looking for millionaire

Last Updated: Friday 25th September 2020, 15:09

Organisers of the UK Lotto are looking for a multi-millionaire, the trouble is, this person may not even know they are a millionaire. That’s because the £4.9 million lottery winner is yet to come forward and understandably Camelot are starting to worry that they may not even know about the winning ticket.

The unclaimed lottery jackpot is worth a staggering £4,908,817 and although it’s so high, no one has yet come forward to claim the win. Camelot have released details about the lottery draw which was held on Saturday 29th August and the winning lottery ticket which was sold in the Sheffield area.

It doesn’t necessarily mean that the winner is from Sheffield, as it was the Bank Holiday weekend draw, it’s quite possible that the winner was holidaying in the area for the last Bank Holiday of the year.

Time hasn’t yet run out for the winner who has until 5.30pm on Thursday February 25th next year to make their claim but it is highly unusual for a winner of this magnitude to take this long to make their lottery claim which is why Camelot are appealing for the winner to come forward.

The winning numbers for the UK Lotto draw on that date were 9 – 18 – 34 – 37 – 39 and 47, which means that unless you are a lucky dip player you may find those numbers familiar.

If not claimed the lottery jackpot will go back into the fund for good causes, along with any interest generated. Although it’s highly unusual for a big lottery jackpot to remain unclaimed it’s certainly not the biggest of unclaimed lottery prizes for the UK Lotto. That record goes to another ticket in the Yorkshire area which was worth a staggering £9.4 million. The jackpot was won in 2005 but no one ever come forward to claim their prize.

So if you live in, or were a visitor to Sheffield on the Bank Holiday weekend it’s time to check in all those places you may have left a winning lottery ticket, an old jacket, down the back of the sofa. It must be somewhere, surely?
