The Big Lottery Fund has announced the recipients of more than £52 million of lottery funding, one of the biggest awards ever seen by the lotto. The funding will go to 185 organisations in an injection of cash into local and community projects as part of the body’s Young People’s Fund 2 programme.
The Big Lottery fund is giving this money – earmarked for good causes – to young people around communities in the UK to create and run activities that will directly benefit them in their local area.
It’s a great way to give hope and opportunity for these youngsters to boost their skills, especially in a time of such high unemployment, especially in the young. Over one million under twenty-fives are unemployed in the UK right now according to government figures and that figure may be set to rise even higher.
Some 185 organisations and youth projects will benefit from this scheme, brought about by the sale of Lottery tickets in the UK.
Some of the recipients of the cash include the Maidstone Youth Forum, Birmingham’s Sound it out community music group and the Holt Youth project, of course with 185 organisations benefitting it’s quite possible that some of this lottery funding is coming to a youth project near you.
The Big Lottery Fund, set up in 2004 has already invested over £150 million in youth inclusion projects and activities and this massive £52 million boost will just add to that. The Big Lottery Fund is the largest distributor of lottery good cause money and manages around half of all lottery funding.
