Forty UK Millionaires Will Be Crowned in EuroMillions on 1st March

Last Updated: Wednesday 23rd September 2020, 16:10

Forty EuroMillions players across the UK will become overnight millionaires on Friday 1st March after The National Lottery confirmed a special Millionaire Maker draw will be held. Plans for a special draw were first announced in November of last year as part of wider changes made to the main game, and there is now only a matter of weeks to go until 40 millionaires will be made.

How Can I Enter?

To be in with a chance of becoming an overnight millionaire, you just need to enter the main EuroMillions draw by picking five main numbers from 1 to 50, and two Lucky Stars between 1 and 12. You can do this by filling out a playslip at any authorised ticket retailer throughout the UK, or entering online. You will then receive free entry into the supplementary Millionaire Maker draw, which is exclusive to all UK-based EuroMillions players. There is normally one millionaire-winning code in a draw, but this upcoming special draw will see 40 codes drawn, resulting in 40 winners of £1 million each.

You will receive one random code on your ticket for each line you have picked. The code will be made up of a combination of four letters and five numbers – such as ZMTB67471 – and begin with H, J, M, T, V, X or Z. The odds of winning in Millionaire Maker varies between draws, based on the number of ticket sales for that game. You must match the full code to win a prize, and cannot win for matching only part of a code.

You can find out if you will have a cause for celebration by checking the winning Millionaire Maker codes shortly after the draw has taken place. If you do have a winning code, you then have 180 days from the date of the draw to come forward and claim your prize.

The Reasons Behind the Special Draw

It was announced back in November of last year that changes were being made to EuroMillions in the hope of producing a bigger number of winners on a more frequent basis. The plans to introduce more special draws coincided with news the number of winning Millionaire Maker codes in each regular draw would be reduced from two to one.

At the time of the announcement towards the back end of last year, a spokesperson for Camelot – the official National Lottery operator in the UK – said: "We’ll be running more special draws in which we will be making lots of guaranteed UK millionaires. We’re kicking this off with a special 40 UK millionaires draw on 1 March 2019, with further big events to follow throughout the year. To help fund these bigger, more frequent special draws with more guaranteed UK millionaires, we will guarantee one UK millionaire in every normal draw instead of two."

The introduction of more special draws – beginning this March – is designed to “raise even more money for the heritage, sports, arts, and health, education, environment and charitable causes”, according to Camelot. Out of every £1 spent on EuroMillions in the UK, £0.28 continues to be put towards the Good Causes Fund, so ticket holders who enter this special draw are also benefiting their local communities.

This is the first of many special draws expected to be held throughout the course of 2019, so don’t miss out and enter online today. Confirmed dates for future special draws are yet to be announced, so keep checking back on our News section for all the latest details.
