The winner of the huge EuroMillions jackpot drawn on Friday, 10th August 2012 will be going public later on today. After scooping the largest ever Euromillions jackpot, which reached the jackpot cap of €190 million, the couple from Haverhill in Suffolk will be taking home the second biggest UK Euromillions jackpot, a staggering £148 million. The slight clash is due to the current exchange rate, and this difference means the Weir’s from Ayrshire still hold the accolade of having the biggest ever UK EuroMillions win, of £161 million in July 2011.
UPDATED: The winning couple have been named as Adrian Bayford, 41, a record shop owner, and Gillian Bayford, 40, a childrens nurse, who live in Haverhill, Surrey. They have two small children. They bought their Lucky Dip ticket from a Premier Convenience Store on Queen Street, Haverhill, which is just yards from Adrian's shop.
However, not all jackpot prizes are claimed so quickly. There is still an outstanding Euromillions jackpot of a whopping £63.8 million, which was won by a single ticket from the Stevenage and Hitchin area back on 8th June 2012. They have until the 5th December 2012 to claim their prize otherwise it will be redistributed into the Good Causes fund. There are also five £1 million prizes outstanding from the UK Millionaire Raffle which took place in 27th July 2012, not to mention numerous Lotto jackpots and secondary tier prizes.
So dig out your tickets and head over to our unclaimed prizes page and see if you are a millionaire in waiting. And don’t forget, your tickets will expire – along with your prizes – so you must make sure you have submitted any winning ticket claim within 180 days of the draw date to be able to take home your life changing jackpot.
