Christmas Comes Early for Scottish EuroMillions Syndicate

A group of 16 ventilation workers from Perthshire received an early gift from Santa this week when they scooped £1 million in the EuroMillions draw.
Although the team at MJVentilation, Coupar Angus, didn’t match enough balls to pick up a prize in the main EuroMillions draw on 2 December, thanks to Millionaire Maker, which guarantees two UK millionaires in every draw, they still managed to scoop a cool £1 million to share between them.
With Christmas just over a week away, the syndicate’s mammoth win couldn’t have come at a better time — and it was made even more magical by the fact that the team have only been playing EuroMillions since February.
“We’ve all worked together for a number of years but only decided to start the syndicate earlier this year; to win £1 million in such a short time is truly amazing,” said syndicate leader Darren. “I can’t believe it – and I’m still in shock.”
Darren told reporters that he joked with the cashier at his local branch of Scotmid that perhaps his team had won the jackpot when the store’s ticket machine prompted him to get in touch with The National Lottery.
“I decided to check the results online first to see if I could get any answers,” he said. “As soon as I saw the matching UK Millionaire Maker code I realised and it suddenly hit me – we’d just won £1 million.”
The Millionaire Maker win means that each of the 16-strong team will receive a tidy sum of £62,500 — just in time for Christmas.
Are you all paid up on your office or family lottery syndicate? With an estimated jackpot of £42 million up for grabs in tonight’s EuroMillions draw, you’d be mad to miss out!
