£25 Million ‘Birthday Jackpot’ on Offer in the 23rd November Lotto Draw
Last Updated: Tuesday 28th April 2020, 10:17
The National Lottery’s 25th birthday will be an occasion to remember for Lotto players across the UK, with a special draw set to take place on Saturday 23rd November. The ‘Birthday Jackpot’ event will offer a top prize of £25 million to Lotto players on that date.
Biggest Lotto Jackpot of the Year
Full details of how the draw will work have yet to be revealed, but there will be £25 million up for grabs even if the jackpot is won in the preceding draw. It will be the biggest prize offered in Lotto since Wednesday 3rd October 2018.
It is likely that the special event will take the form of a ‘Must Be Won’ draw, meaning that the entire £25 million will be given away on the night, even if no one matches all six winning numbers. In that instance, the £25 million prize money would be shared between all other winners in the Match 3, Match 4, Match 5, and Match 5 + Bonus prize tiers.
Lotto Must Be Won draws have taken place regularly since they were introduced in November 2018, but none have had a jackpot as big as the one offered on 23rd November. Current Lotto rules state that a Must Be Won draw will take place after the jackpot has rolled over five consecutive times, which usually results in a jackpot worth between £10 million and £15 million.
Occasionally, though, the National Lottery will offer bigger jackpots to commemorate certain special dates and events, such as Christmas or New Year, and organisers have gone all out to celebrate its 25th birthday.
This Birthday Jackpot draw is just one of several special events that the National Lottery is holding to celebrate its 25th anniversary. A £250,000 birthday scratchard is already available in shops and a special edition of the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker raffle, in which 25 millionaires will be made on the same night, is due to take place on 8th November. A Lotto event on Christmas Day will also see £15 million on offer.
How to Enter the Birthday Jackpot draw
You can already get your tickets for the 23rd November draw by visiting a licensed lottery retailer, as you can enter up to four weeks in advance, but you will also have to play all draws - or at least all Saturday draws - between now and then.
Aside from the guaranteed £25 million jackpot and the likelihood of it being a Must Be Won draw, the special event will work just like any other draw. On the day of the draw you will be able to purchase Lotto tickets in shops until 7.30pm, or you will have the opportunity to enter an online syndicate right up until before the draw commences at 7.45pm.
